Resolution In consideration of the following: WHEREAS, our country and its cultural heritage is recognized and admired worldwide for the rich variety of its natural resources and the noted works of its people that have not only transformed Peru but also made it more beautiful and more useful in its contributions to humanity; and WHEREAS, one of the activities of greatest renown and admiration throughout the world is the breeding of the Peruvian Paso Horse, the only such breed in the world and the one that marks a particularly Peruvian path, for the recognition of its genetic development and the efforts by those who have as their charge this handsome animal, truly the pride of our country; and WHEREAS, the work of those men and women who fill our country with pride and create worldwide admiration is channeled through the National Association of Owners and Breeders of the Peruvian Paso Horse, transcending national borders to demonstrate the breed’s beauty throughout the world; and WHEREAS, it is equally important to recognize the premature passing of don ALFONSO ALEJANDRO FIGUEROLA SAAVEDRA on the first anniversary of his death as a man who was a dedicated and noble pioneer and leader not only in the breeding of the Peruvian Paso Horse but also in its genetic improvement and in establishing its characteristics and qualities throughout the world; and WHEREAS, the Latin American Press Council, fulfilling its supreme objective of collecting, analyzing, rewarding, and publicizing the exemplary accomplishments and acts of institutions and individuals in all activities that serve to benefit and better our society, has organized a well-deserved homage in memory of Don Alfonso Alejandro Figuerola Saavedra for his profound and valiant labors on behalf of Peru; and WHEREAS, the Congress of the Republic of Peru, as the representative body of the nation, on deliberating the endeavors of those Peruvians transcend this significant task: IT IS UNANIMOUSLY AGREED that a historical act is declared to salute and recognize the work and exemplary actions of don ALFONSO ALEJANDRO FIGUEROLA SAAVEDRA on the first anniversary of his passing.
